Rally and Discussion Held on the Occasion of International Women's Day in Satkhira



Various rallies and discussions were held in Satkhira on the occasion of International Women's Day with the theme "Digital technology and innovation, will end gender discrimination". On the occasion of the day, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Kazi Arifur Rahman inaugurated the rally organized by the Directorate of District Administration and Women Affairs and National Women's Organization, Satkhira at 9:30 am on Wednesday, March 8, and met in the discussion meeting.

Professor Basudev Basu, principal of Satkhira Government Women's College, spoke as the chief guest in the discussion meeting under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sheikh Moinul Islam Moin. District Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Sabizur Rahman, Chairman of National Women's Organization Satkhira and General Secretary of District Women's Awami League Jyotsna Ara, Sadar Police Station OC (Investigation) Nazrul Islam spoke as a special guest. Satkhira Zilla Parishad Member Advocate Shahnewaz Parveen Milli, Women Affairs Department Program Officer Fatema Zohra, Satkhira Mahila Parishad General Secretary Jyothsna Dutta, Kishori Representative Baisakhi Sultana, Uttaran Project Officer Nazmin Nahar, Sido Sansthan Executive Director Shyamal Kumar Biswas, District Shilpakala Academy Member Secretary Sheikh Mosfiqur Rahman Milton. The entire program was conducted by SoDESH Executive Director Madhab Chandra Dutta and Taslima Khatun.

A call to halt LNG imports and embrace the path of renewable energy in the awareness campaign

  An awreness campaign was organized in Satkhira with the call to move towards renewable energy by halting LNG imports. The campaign was jointly organized by Swadesh Satkhira, Clean, and BWGED on Saturday (February 8) at 10:00 AM at Shaheed Abdur Razzak Park. Participants in the campaign demanded that the reliance on LNG imports be reduced and investments be made in the development of renewable energy. They stated that the large amounts of money spent by the government on LNG imports are creating financial pressure on the people of the country and putting the environment at greater risk. LNG is not a long-term solution; rather, it is creating an expensive and dangerous dependency. Experts argue that burning LNG releases a significant amount of carbon dioxide and methane gases, which accelerate global warming and climate crises.
